This house is in my neighborhood, it has a most interesting roof...
Can you tell what the design is?

It looks like and Eagle to me... possibly a Phoenix....

These photos were taken August 1, 2006 Signal Hill CA.
Perigrine Falcoln and Mockingbirds

I saw the falcon flying over a field in my neighborhood. I had my parrot flap her wings to get his attention and the Falcoln flew to the neighbors roof. The mockingbirds are fearless trying to chase the falcon away. I love to watch the mockingbirds attack cats and dogs in the neighborhood.

I did not have my 35 mm camera only my Canon Powershot when I took these

Other Pelicans

This is a beautiful picture of a light house and the California Coast line.
I was able to photograph one of the whales, it is just a hump. I had to deal with the movement of the boat I ended up just iming the camera in the general area and pressed the button for continuous photos.

Haror Seals sunbathing on the rocks. Their color blends in with the backround.
Harbor Seals do not move well on land they are more suited for water

We past by the Ports of Long Beach, and you can see the giant cranes that lift the containers of the ships. All the containers you see are from China. It was fun trying to photograph the birds while they were flying and the boat was moving up and down, the wind was blowing so strong it was difficult to walk. You can see some of the pelicans and California least terns. This year someone destroyed many of the eggs that the terns laid and killed many of the young. We have some mean and hateful people in this country.
It was difficult to get the birds in focus with all the movement going. It was like a computer game.

California Brown Pelicans are endagered and protected under international treaty. We have witnessed horrible acts agaist the pelicans. In recent years people have been cutting the pouch of the pelicans. These Pelicans are congregating close to shore

Carnival Cruise Ship is getting ready to leave on a cruise. In 1930's the Queen Mary was the largest ship on the Sea. She is small compared to todays cruise ship.
The Russian Nuclear Submarine, Scorpion is docked next to theQueen Mary. The Scorpion was a big threat to America when they first built it.

The next 4 Pictures will be of the view of Long Beach from the Boat.

The Arco Towers are two glass towers which is where I work and have a view of the marina.

The Arena is where concerts and events are held. This building has a mural of whales, dolphins and other marine life. It was painted about 15 years ago my "Wyland". This is the largest mural ever painted. However he is going to China this year and will be painting a section of the Great Wall and I believe this will be the largest mural. He lives in Laguna Beach about 40 minutes from Long Beach. I will try to go when he does this project. Here are some links to view his works, they are so beautiful.

There is a picture of three tall buildings, one is round, one has a green tower and the other is Mediterranean style. I own a condo near these buildings.
The building with the green tower used to have guns and it was used as a lookout for Japanese during World War II.

I went whale watching this weekend. I saw a Sea Lion in the marina just swimming around all the boats like he owned them all. This is an unusual site to see in the marina and in Long Beach. Before going out to sea I stopped to visit the Aquarium and got some shots of one of my many favorite birds the Puffin. He is another maritime clown. The ride out to see was met with strong winds, making it difficult to stand and walk on deck. The boat was rocking quite a bit and pitching about 30 degrees. We passed the Queen Mary, the Carnival Cruise liner, the Russian Submarine, Scorpion and the shipping yards. The cranes you see inspired George Lucas to create some of his creatures in Star Wars. They look like primitive dinosaurs, at least that’s what they remind me of whenever I look out the windows from work. It was challenging to photograph the pelicans in flight while the boat was rocking, and the wind made it difficult to stand. Before going into the open ocean I was able to get some photos of the harbor seals. We encountered 4 whales and I only was able to get one shot not so good. The whales were not that active and would just rise out of the water a bit. The boat was too crowded, and it turned into a vomitorium (Vomit was everywhere) Several people got sick.
